My Apollo will involuntarily switch from 48khz to 192khz after an attempt to open pro tools, and I get locked into a buffer size that I didn't choose as well. Seemingly out of nowhere after 18 months of error free use about 8 days ago I got the same errors you did (Pro Tools hardware is either not installed or used by another program) and noticed the same things. Unfortunately I can't offer a solution, but I wanted to chime in saying that I am having the EXACT same problem. If you have ANY thoughts - I'd be most appreciative. I tried the PT database - known error but says it's either a midi setting or a bad interface. I tried the PT message board - they don't know. I installed the latest Apollo software today - didn't help. I upgraded from PT 2019.5 to PT 2019.6 yesterday - didn't help. ![]() I trashed both preferences and workplace files in PT. so I changed those settings back to my PC soundcard for that. and windows WAS using it strangely as input/output. At first because of the error saying "or used by another program". Strange that even the console software settings show the unit constantly shifting HW buffer settings. but PT still gives the error stated above. I hear my instruments through the speakers as always. Apollo console software loads it - recognizes it fine. now it's 100% always there and I can't use my Apollo. then the message became more and more consisent. (reboot 10 times) then it magically finds it but shows it set to 32ms buffer (clicks galore!). ![]() the hardware buffer setting keeps changing on its own and when I set it to 256ms in console. changing by itself within console each boot or sometimes from song to song then giving me this error again. and it would either give same message, or would find Apollo but load it at a random hardware buffer length of 32ms. I would unplug/replug/reboot/restart/everything. Error - "Pro Tools hardware is either not installed or used by another program" help!Īpollo firewire + PT 2019 worked fine forever then all of a sudden this past week, I started getting "Pro Tools hardware is either not installed or used by another program" when loading Pro Tools.
